Here's some details about myself - my life has helped me to choose subjects for my books! I have a degree in Anthropology and an interest in history, geography and the natural world. I am a long-time re-enactor and have fulfilled many roles in pursuit of my interest - have fought on horseback with swords and pistol, I have been a drummer, a musketeer, a swordsman and an archer on foot. I have also taken roles as both commoner and gentry, in particular for the medieval, Roman and 17th century periods, including much of the late 17th century. This has led to developing craft skills from the past and a clear understanding of life in those periods. All this personal experience has been a great help in writng my books ! I am a traveller. I have notched up visits to 33 different countries, and travel several times a year if I can, much of it around Britain, and regularly for re-enactment events. Re-enactment has also led to a number of appearances on television.I have visited almost all of the places I write about (except for the fantasy books!!) and more; places such as India, Afghanistan, Jordan, Syria, and most countries in Europe. I come from a country family who farm for a living and keenly observe the natural world, the seasons, the weather, how plants grow, etc. My family originally were French - they came to England as knights when Eleanor of Aquitaine married Henry II (Richard the Lionheart's father) in the 1160s - we have been farmers and soldiers ever since! For a living I write books - I run a small publishing company called Moorish Books. I also make reproduction costumes, many for museums, and have my own website for these. And, of course, I write novels. I have been writing fiction since I was a teenager and will always do so.One day I will write a proper biography of myself - it just might be rather interesting!
